Introduction

Multidisciplinary Academic PerspectiveS (MAPS) is a membership-based, non-profit, social and educational organization. It is an initiative towards broadening the horizons of our academia and understanding. We take multidisciplinary approaches on topics aimed at extending and redrawing the maps of our comprehension. The name MAPS speaks for itself.

Currently, MAPS organizes “SHASTRARTHA”, an academic exchange/discussion and interpretation program where 2 speakers present their academic perspectives on the week's topic for 10-15 minutes each, and a Guest Analyst presents an analysis of the presentations for 20-25 minutes. These presentations are followed by about an hour-long open floor discussion in which all the participants interact and exchange perspectives. Shastrartha, in its discourses, focuses on thoughts, theories, principles, philosophies, ideologies, concepts and the like.

Following are the objectives of MAPS:

  1. To function as a non-profit, social organization beneficial to the people.

  2. To organize discussions, interaction programs among professors, students and other interested individuals on various issues based on a wide range of -isms, philosophies, theories, thoughts, beliefs and perspectives.

  3. To conduct studies/researches on various issues based on different isms, philosophies, theories, thought-systems and beliefs.

  4. To organize various programs at international, national and local levels on different issues for social transformation.

  5. To organize programs which are instrumental for overall development of citizens, especially the youth, in the process of nation-building.

  6. To institutionalize the organization as a national resource centre in order to achieve the abovementioned objectives.
