Workshop

MAPS organized a conceptualizing and planning workshop on 14th & 15th Oct, 2006 at NESAC Hall, Anamnagar, Kathmandu. Twenty five MAPS members participated in the program. The following goal, objectives, and activities were set for MAPS through a participatory approach during the workshop.


Goal:

To evolve as a national think tank and coordinate/collaborate with similar institutions/ organizations and individuals.


Objectives:

  1. To apply multidisciplinary perspectives for the Generation of Knowledge/Ideas

  2. To develop the organization as a national research and resource center

  3. To enhance relationships with other similar institutions and individuals

  4. To analyze policies related with democracy and process of democratization


Categorical Activities:

  1. Conducting academic discussion/interpretation programs at various levels

  2. Organizing training/workshop and seminar/conference at various levels

  3. Promoting and conducting research activities

  4. Broadening the membership base to emerge as a resource center

Specific Activities suggested during the workshop:

  1. Conducting regular Saturday SHASTRARTHA— interaction/interpretation program among professors, students and other interested individuals on various issues based on a wide range of -isms, philosophies, theories, thoughts, beliefs and perspectives. Also initiating the process of replicating the Shastrartha at various places.

  2. Organizing training/workshop for members and other interested individuals on a regular basis on academic and skill oriented topics, e.g. proposal and report writing training for Masters level students to help with their research.

  3. Promoting democratic practices in the political parties and their sister organization through specific training/workshop, interaction and discussion programs on a regular basis.

  4. Organizing members gathering of different forms every three months
